A collaboration between Jenny Theolin and Ata Berenjian
Borderless Series is a collection of artwork inspired by the global lockdowns of the Covid-19 pandemic.
During art school, Jenny was frequently told that you should never touch another person's art. And now, even touching our friends and family can be dangerous. Starved for intimacy, Jenny encourages Ata to “touch, hug, vandalise, meddle and enrich” her work. The result being 4 limited edition digital art pieces – a beautiful collision of characteristics.
With Jenny’s photography as a canvas, Ata applies his distinctive illustration style elevating and creating something completely new. This collaboration is all about building on top, adding and creating together. A little bit like we hope the world will be doing more of once open.
Ata Berenjian
Ata Berenjian was born in 1982 in Tehran, Iran. He studied Visual Communications at the American University of Dubai, majoring in graphic design from 2005 until 2009. Ata lives and works at his home studio in Tehran.
Berenjian has his eyes set on the madness & chaos of the contemporary world. Trying to curb his subconscious to make sense of it all through a pull and push of instant gestures with colorful yet dismal auras of nostalgia and pop culture. It is important for him to get a punchy instant emotion from the viewer, awakening their inner child with his figurative/abstract/and expressive style of work. He makes this possible by using basic colors that easily convey to the audience. His works primarily consist of acrylic, oil stick, crayon, and spray paint.
Ata Berenjian is deeply mesmerized by the digital age, and the diverse expanses of visual content available to feed his transformation as an artist. He uses social media such as Instagram, a simple platform to showcase his artwork and interact with other artists and art lovers. He views this as a glass window to the world where every dimension of life is portrayed. The last thing he wants is boundaries or rules to dampen his creative spirit.
